Residential Design Testimonials

Robin R:  Before I called you, I was always left overwhelmed and stressed out by all the choices I needed to make before I could even start work, and stuck in a pattern of stagnation.  I loved how you presented all the possibilities with enthusiasm: I fell into love with new ideas but also you helped me decide what was really important in my own vision.

Brandy H:  Melissa is a modernist landscape inspiration.  It is a pleasure to work with someone whose vision is so clear and perfectly aligned to achieve the delicate balance of pacific NW beauty and minimalist, crisp clean design.

Jenny K:  Melissa designed a beautiful, functional (storm water management for our steep hillside house), and low-maintenance hardscape and landscape plan for our newly remodeled house.  We enjoy more outdoor time as a family throughout the year thanks to her livable outdoor space design. And, she was wonderful and easy to work with.

Kim W:  I found Melissa to be extremely easy and fun to work with– I looked forward to each time she visited to update plans or oversee progress.  She is personable and creative and was able to pull together what I was looking for while being mindful of my budget and timeline.  She was also able to recommend excellent resources to complete path work and plantings.  I was so pleased with the outcome, I recommended her to a family member and am looking forward to seeing the outcome of that project.

Eric B:  As a consultant myself, I would rank Melissa’s design services as excellent and a good value.   She conceptually planned a service package that met my needs, stayed within her original target budget, and produced a great design that served to transform both my front and back yards. During the construction and installation phase, she provided great timely advice when questions came up which ultimately led to a better finished project. I would highly recommend her.

Heather L:  Melissa was incredibly fun and exciting to collaborate with. She’s got great, unique vision- a plant wizard who also has amazing hardscaping ideas. She understands that green spaces are ultimately for living in, not staring at. I’m so grateful I connected with her.

Steve P:  Melissa listened and understood our desired results and design direction. Her solution took all of our requests into account and has been great. Great value too.

Linsey F:  Melissa was so helpful in navigating the City of Portland as our home is in an environmentally protected zone.  She had great options for modern looking native plants that fit our design and style.  I would highly recommend her for any landscape design needs you may have!

Catie C:  Melissa’s approach to landscape design not only takes into consideration space, light, water and surroundings, she also takes into consideration her clients’ lifestyle, home aesthetic, background and interests. We asked Melissa to design our large front yard in NE Portland that incorporated an edible landscape and was dog friendly. She not only delivered a beautiful design to us, but also built in some thoughtful surprises. Most notably, she added some planting features that she knew were reminiscent of my childhood in Northern California. It’s this type of considerate approach to design, stemming from Melissa’s ability to not only listen to her clients’ wants but to also observe her clients’ lives.

Rian F:  We hired Melissa to help redesign both our front and back yards this summer. Her communication skills were excellent, the plant selection process with pictures and names worked well for us to pick and choose what we liked and didn’t like. She also came out to our project a few weeks after having her first child in order to show the landscapers exactly where the plants needed to go… We interviewed many designers and not only was her price in our ballpark, she didn’t try to oversell us like so many others wanted to do, and did. I would highly recommend Melissa and LANDline design to anyone and everyone.”

Commercial Client Testimonials

David Hassin, Terrafirma Building, Inc:  Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed working with Landline design on the landscaping designs for our Film Exchange project. You listened carefully to the expectation and design ideas of the project team, provided conceptual and budgetary options that met our needs. It was a effective and collaborative process at every stage. The result certainly speaks for itself, we love the design.

Eli Spevak, Orange Splot LLC: I first hired Melissa to design and build the circular courtyards at Sabin Green, which was featured in Sunset Magazine in 2008.  Following on that success, she’s created two more courtyards for Orange Splot projects.  Constructed from salvaged bricks, stone, and other natural materials, these courtyards serve as the artistic and social hubs of each community, and as a crossroads and gathering space for residents, friends and family.  Melissa has a terrific eye, is fun to work with, and has a great talent for creating spaces where people love to hang out.  I’m working with Melissa again on our latest project, Cully Grove, and look forward to many future collaborations.
